Mike Bareham - Group Managing Director

Mike joined Cumbria Waste Group in 1993, having previously worked in a number of senior roles in management accounting/finance. His key responsibilities include leading the senior executive team, developing and implementing strategies, ensuring operational processes are continually reviewed and planning and leading major reviews/projects/negotiations, ensuring health & safety and environmental systems are effective and positively promoting the company to stakeholders.

Mike is also Chief Executive of Cumbria Waste Group’s parent (Cumbria County Holdings Limited) and its facilities management subsidiary (Orian Solutions Limited). He is Vice-Chair/Trustee of Cumbria Waste Management Environment Trust and Chairman of Reivers District Scouts Facilities Management Committee.

Mike is a Chartered Director, Chartered Management Accountant and Chartered Wastes Manager.

Andy Chant - Group Finance Director & Company Secretary

Andy Chant - Group Finance Director & Company Secretary

Andy joined the group in 2002 and is a Chartered Accountant. He has previously held a number of roles both in industry and professional practice.

Having trained in practice with Ernst & Young in Exeter, he spent six years at Debenhams as a Finance Manager working in London and the South West.
Prior to moving to Cumbria Andy was Group Financial Controller at Stovax Group which manufactured stoves, tiles and gas fires.Andy's key responsibilities are for the financial control, performance and strength of the group, development of the strategy, acquisitions and major contract negotiations. He also oversees the HR, IT, legal and company secretarial functions.

Andy is also finance director of Cumbria County Holdings Limited and of its facilities subsidiary Orian Solutions Limited.

Charles Riddell - Director

Charles joined Cumbria Waste Group in 1998, having previously worked in senior roles within the coal industry and the Inland Revenue.

He is also a Director of Cumbria Waste Group's parent (Cumbria County Holdings Limited) and the other companies within the Group.

He is responsible for the development and operation of waste activities across the group.

Charles is a Chartered Engineer, Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Wastes Manager.

Alan Moore - Chairman of Cumbria County Holdings

Alan has extensive experience in the nuclear industry including strategy development, management of complex programmes and major projects; nuclear operations management; commissioning and decommissioning; business change experience and major project assurance.

His Board Director experience in specialist transport environments has included being Chairman of Direct Rail Services, a Non-Executive Director with International Nuclear Services, and has had a number of roles with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority including Director of Operations.

He is currently a Non-Executive Director of Cumbria Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust and Chairs their Finance, Investment & Performance Committee. He is also a specialist consultant to the Cabinet Office Infrastructure and major Projects Authority, leading assurance reviews on critical UK government programmes. He was born in Whitehaven and currently lives in Cleator Moor.

Tom Spaul - Non-Executive Chairman

Tom enjoyed a long and successful career as an Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer and Board Member with Veolia Environmental Services, the UK listed £1.5bn turnover subsidiary of Veolia Environment, and its forerunners.

During his tenure, the company developed into the leading waste management and environmental services provider in the UK, covering all aspects including collection, landfill, hazardous waste collection and treatment, energy from waste treatment, biological treatment, recycling and industrial services, operating from more than 350 sites and employing almost 14,000 people.

His non-executive portfolio is focused on roles to which he is transferring relevant skills and experience gained during a long and successful career dealing with both the private and public sectors within the environment and waste management arenas such as governance, compliance, strategy, operations, acquisitions, integrations, disposals, increasing shareholder value and providing independent and objective advice.

Bob Barltrop - Non-Executive Director

Bob Barltrop - Non-Executive Director

Bob has had an extensive and varied career in sales and marketing having worked in a number of B2B sectors notably within waste and recruitment. He was previously managing director of Greenstar and commercial director of Biffa.

Bob now acts as a non-executive director as well as running his own sales consultancy business.
