At Cumbria Waste Group we take our responsibilities to people and the environment very seriously. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and managing our waste and recyclable materials in the most effective and sustainable way.

We are accredited to the Environmental Management Standard ISO14001, which gives a clear demonstration of our commitment to continual improvement and provision of quality services to our customers whilst ensuring standards of environmental control are maintained.

We also give donations under the Landfill Communities Fund scheme to an environmental body, Cumbria Waste Management Environment Trust (CWMET), which operates in parts of Cumbria, in areas such as Carlisle, distributing funds generated through our landfill operations.

CWMET is an independent charity, (1090965), and a registered company (4282827), that is run by a Board of Trustees who meet four times a year. The Trust employs a part time Grants Manager and Administration Officer.

In 2013/14, grants totalling £553,914 were distributed to over 50 environmental and community projects within a 10-mile radius of a fee paying landfill site.
