Cumbria Waste Group, have announced the acquisition of Derwent Recycling based in Workington, West Cumbria. The deal forms part of Cumbria Waste Group’s growth plan to strengthen its base in Cumbria and regionalise its business across the north of England.
Derwent Recycling was founded in 2006 by Kevin Farrington and run jointly with his wife Claire. It has developed a strong reputation for service excellence, compliant operations and a well invested asset base with two sites.
For Cumbria Waste Group, the acquisition adds permitted site capacity in West Cumbria and given the close proximity to one of its existing sites some obvious immediate operational benefits alongside a number of new customers and a strong and experienced team.
Cumbria Waste Group is a fast-growing regional waste solutions provider, with operations across Cumbria, the North East and Lancashire. It’s Total Waste Solution offering covers both Public Sector and commercial customers. Cumbria Waste Group was acquired by Waterland Private Equity in 2023 and is also supported by Kartesia.
