This term the Reception class at Cumwhinton School have been exploring the subject ‘People who help us’.
They have been learning about different jobs and roles that help people and the community. They have had numerous visits to the school from the Police, Fire Service and a vet. Cumbria Waste Group visited the school last Thursday with a bin wagon and cage van, where our Commercial Collections Manager and Our Transport Supervisor & Trainer explained what we do.
They explained the importance of waste collection and recycling. The children were able to explore some of the PPE our crews use and then got to walk around the bin wagon and sit in the cab to get a hands on experience in a safe environment.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the visit and were left with some fun facts about recycling, including some pictures to colour in and some tips of how they can reduce, reuse and recycle at home.
